St. Mary’s Shop with a Cop - December 17, 2011

Shop with a Cop is a joint venture between the Optimist Clubs of St. Mary’s County and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7. This program works to help needy children of the area to have a good Christmas.

Each child is allotted money to spend however they choose, whether it be for themselves, family members or household items. Each child is transported to Wal-Mart by law enforcement personnel and then to the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds where they are awaited by Optimist members who are ready to serve a huge breakfast, wrap their gifts, and entertain them with a puppet show.

At the end of the event the excited children are returned home by the police officers.
